Welcome to the

North East Community Improvement Partnership (NECIP)

The NECIP was a partnership between schools and their local community partners who worked together from 2006 to 2011 to make a real difference to children, young people and families in Drayton, Farlington, East Cosham and Highbury.

The direct funding to Local Authorities for Extended Services has ceased, so the NECIP was decommissioned in July 2011.

The website will remain ‘live’ until March 2012 and will only be updated in the event of any breaking or important news about extended services. Some holiday activities may be booked online.

Much of our work has been about the qualitative, longer term outcomes, for example increased confidence, self-esteem and willingness of families to engage where they previously felt there was no place for them.

The success of the past 5 years’ work lies firmly in the future when we will be able to see what difference this work has made – oh for a crystal ball!!

We are confident that many aspects will remain as schools and their patners have developed a real understanding of the benefits of extended services.

We have developed this document that celebrates some of our work. It’s not glossy, not commissioned by anyone and not a requirement. It is simply an attempt to capture the essence and spirit of what can be achieved when a cluster of schools, their community partners, parents and children work closely together.

We hope that you enjoy reading it, and reflecting on our journey.

And finally....a personal thank you from me to the inspirational colleagues, supportive parents and enthusiastic children I have had the pleasure to work with.
