The NECIP E-Bulletin

Thank you for signing up to receive regular e-bulletins, and welcome to the second edition! The first edition was a great success and I received some very positive feedback, including a Hantsweb Award nomination from a parent for the fabulous new website! Thank you. Keep the comments coming about what you would like to see included in future editions.

116 children are enjoying after school activities commissioned by NECIP including sports, cheerleading, musical theatre and drama. There are still a few places available on courses starting in November. Please see the calendar page for details, and contact Jo if your child would like a place.

Summer Slam! evaluation is almost complete – thank you so much if you returned your evaluation forms. I have already made some changes to the October half-term programme in response to feedback from children and parents. The winners of the cinema tickets and book tokens will be announced shortly. Keep checking the website for News!

Cheryl Taylor, our Parent Support Adviser, will be offering some Triple P parenting seminars during the next two or three months. Please contact Cheryl via the website if you would like more information or to register an early interest.

Are you interested in being an ‘Information Champion’? We are planning to set up a network of volunteer parents as Information Champions in schools. This role will involve working closely with the Parent Support Advisor, agreeing to pass on relevant, accurate and timely information to parents – either directly (word of mouth) or indirectly (through a noticeboard) – about support that is available to them locally and nationally.

Key skills are friendly, approachable and a good listener! This would look great on your CV…..

An example of the tasks could include:

  • Displaying a one page newsletter (from CHAT), posters for Parent Power, drop-in sessions etc. where they can be seen by parents.
  • Verbally pass on information about what's happening for parents in school or in the local area e.g. drop-in sessions.

If you would be interested in finding out more, please contact Jo.

Drayton and Farlington Action Group are holding a Quiz Night on Friday 13th November at the Church of the Resurrection. For more information please contact the Information Centre on 02392 380000.

And now for the most important part of this update…….advanced notice of the October half-term activities!!
