The NECIP E-Bulletin

Thank you for signing up to receive regular e-bulletins, and welcome to the third edition! Keep the comments coming about what you would like to see included in future editions.

110 children are currently enjoying after school activities commissioned by NECIP including sports, cheerleading and musical theatre. We are looking at a range of exciting after school activities for the Spring and Summer terms in response to consultation. Details in the next bulletins!

Summer Slam! evaluation is complete and available on the Summer Slam! page of the website. The winners of book tokens and cinema tickets have been chose at random. Letters will be going home week beginning 16th November. Some schools will be presenting the winners with their book tokens.

180 children aged 3 – 15 enjoyed a range of activities during October half-term. In response to the summer evaluation I tried a longer day approach which was very successful. If your children have any ideas for February half-term, please let me know.

Have you joined Change4Life yet? Change4Life is to help families eat well, move more and live longer happier lives. Joining is simple and easy and you receive a great pack with wall charts and stickers. I will give the first five families who email me to say they’ve joined up some extra Change4Life goodies!!

Verity Simmons and Rebecca Frost have offered some great Theatre Arts activities during holiday times and children have been asking for more! In response to this, they are planning to run Saturday workshops from May next year (venue to be decided) from 9.30 a.m. – 11 a.m. for 3 – 5 year olds and from 11.15 a.m. to 12.45 p.m. for 6 – 9 year olds. The children will boost their confidence in dance, drama and singing with an end of term presentation. The cost is likely to be around £5 per week. If you would like to register a very early interest, please email theatreartspartnership@yahoo.co.uk

I’m trying not to mention the ‘C’ word but thought you might like advance notice of our now annual ‘Christmas Family Craft’ session. This has been very successful over the past two years with nearly 100 families participating, making everything from reindeer food to decorating tealight holders and enjoying coffee, mince pies and a film playing for the children! The event, on Monday 21st December at Cosham Baptist Church, will be free of charge. This year we are working in partnership with Drayton & Farlington Children’s Centre. Numbers will be strictly limited, so if you’d like to register an early interest, please contact me.

All future NECIP events and activities will be published on the Calendar page. Here you will find a wonderful downloadable monthly calendar – no ‘google’ in sight! – that you can print off and stick on your fridge. This follows the success of last year’s community calendar, which sadly we cannot afford to print this year. We aim to keep the current month plus the next two months on the page at a time. I hope you will find this helpful.
