The NECIP E-Bulletin

Welcome to the first bulletin of 2010…..what a start to the year! Hopefully the weather will settle down now, and we can look forward to the Spring!
Christmas Family Craft was a resounding success……137 people attended; 44 adults and 93 children from 37 families. Parents have requested similar activities in future holidays….I will be looking at how we can provide this, particularly during the summer.

During Spring and Summer Terms, we will again be offering a range of after school activities to include Theatre Arts, Musical Theatre, Dance, Drama, Cheerleading, Sports, Yoga, Fashion and Textiles and some activities run by Pompey Stars. Please look out for publicity coming home from school and on the calendar page of the website. |
February half-term is a circus-themed week of activities with Theatre Arts and Crafts on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings; Musical Theatre all day on Tuesday; Gymnastics on Monday morning; Games Galore on Thursday and X-plosive Sports on Friday. Publicity will be coming home from school week beginning 1st February (on the Summer Slam page before that!) and if you’d like to register an early interest in any activity, please email me
NECIP is attempting to capture the range of activities that children who live or go to school in the area (Drayton, Farlington, East Cosham and Highbury) take part in when they are not in school. A simple questionnaire will be coming home shortly requesting some basic information (tick boxes!)…..there will be a prize draw for Vue Cinema gift cards.
Safer Internet Day on Tuesday 9 February 2010, is a Europe-wide initiative, and is the one day in the year that provides a focus on internet safety issues. There is a range of activities taking place across the continent to help protect young people online. The theme for Safer Internet Day 2010 is 'Think before you post'. This will involve a full week of action in the UK, with activities taking place from Monday 8 February to Friday 12 February. |

Safer Internet Day will also see the launch of a public awareness campaign from the UK Council for Child Internet Safety. The Click Clever, Click Safe campaign will highlight a new online 'green cross code': 'Zip it, Block it, Flag it'. The code will outline behaviour that allows young people to enjoy the internet safely. www.thinkuknow.co.uk
