Summer Slam 2011

Nearly 200 children aged 3 to 13 enjoyed 4 weeks' of activities over the summer holidays including sports, Get Kinected, Theatre Arts and Crafts and Musical Theatre. Thanks go to the 4 providers who made the summer fun for those children, and it is hoped that they will continue to offer activities in future holidays. Thanks also to the parents and children who continue to support the holiday programme, which has been a real success story of the NECIP.

Summer Slam! 2009 Evaluation

Over 300 children and young people aged 4 to 15 had great fun at 4 fantastic weeks of fun filled activities in 2009 Children said they would tell other children that 'I had fun enjoying things I would not normally do'; 'You see new people and make new friends'; 'Teachers and coaches are friendly and full of energy' and 'It is fun and exciting and a great way to break up holidays'.

Parents rated Summer Slam! overall as 'excellent' and met their needs either 'very well or 'well'. Parents felt that their children benefited from improved 'confidence' and 'social skills' as children were able to try different activities in a range of locations, making friends with children from other schools and in different years.

Providers enjoyed working with the children who participated, seeing them learn new and different skills and gaining in confidence.

A huge thank you to the providers for running fantastic activities, to the parents for encouraging and supporting their children to take part and to the children and young people for taking part. The programme was independently 'quality assured' with excellent results for interaction, play value and children's independence. I visited many of the sessions and always saw happy, smiling children mostly engrossed in what they were doing!
